Summer Camp FAQ

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

Deposits made for camp are non-refundable, but refunds for the rest of the payment will be issued for cancellations made two weeks prior to the camp week’s start date. Contact admin@kbc.ca for cancellations.

See our full Refund/Cancellation Policy for more details.

CHECK-IN/ CHECK-OUT

To facilitate a quick and easy process, we are asking all parents to collect two cards which will be used as identification for pickup and drop off. If your children are in multiple camps, the cards you receive at their first camp are the ones you will use for subsequent camps. If you forget your parent cards at home, we will accept photo ID as an alternate form of verification for pick-up.

If you need to approve another individual to check-out your child, we will need you to sign one of our permission forms (available at check in) or send an email granting them permission for pick up and for them to present photo ID. We will not release a camper under any circumstance to an unauthorized individual.

WHAT TO PACK

Each day at camp includes lots of energetic games, so please ensure your child has appropriate footwear. We also have two snacks and a lunch every day so please pack accordingly.

Our staff will do everything they can to make sure each day is a ton of fun, but that sometimes involves getting messy! Please ensure that your child always has a change of clothes as a precaution. We will also be spending lots of time playing games and going outside so please make sure you pack sunscreen, a water bottle, and a hat for your child.

On Wednesday, we have programmed some fun outdoor water games for the children to participate in. If you wish for your child to participate, you should aim to provide your child with a towel, a swimsuit* or change of clothes, and some shoes you are comfortable with them getting wet.

*If your child needs assistance in changing in or out of their swim clothes, you will need to sign one of our waiver forms (available at check-in).

OUR SEVEN PILLARS OF PLAY

APPROPRIATE

Appropriate activities provide our staff with the opportunity to focus on the needs of the entire group, while also considering the needs of individual children. By doing this, we offer the opportunity for self-learning and development, while standing by to coach and assist at any point.

CHALLENGING

All activities are created to meet the needs of younger children while still offering opportunity to grow and challenge older children. In many circumstances, we separate younger and older children to better accommodate this pillar of play.

CHRIST-CENTERED

As a Christian camp, it is important to do all things to the glory of God. Our principal value is to lead children in the footsteps of Christ. Due to this motivation, we aspire to have a Christ-centred approach to our daily planning and activities.

CREATIVE

Many parents choose to enrol their children in all seven weeks of camp. This is a direct reflection of our goal to make sure every week is filled with fun and fresh games that many campers will have never seen anywhere else!

ENGAGING

Our activities are well thought-out and planned. Because of this, children are given the opportunity to learn a new skill or develop social skills through everyday interaction with friends through play.

INCLUSIVE

We understand how important feeling included is to a child and their development. This means that all our activities are done in a way that caters to all campers, or offer options to reasonable differences.

MEANINGFUL

We don't believe in simply filling time. Every activity is done with a purpose and plan. This means not only is your camper enjoying every moment of fun, but they'll also develop life skills.

ALLERGENS & MEDICAL CONCERNS

As a camp we strive to be nut free, so we ask that you refrain from packing your child snack or lunch items which contain nuts.  However, we cannot guarantee that our camp will be nut-free due to our facility being multi-use and the quantity of campers. Please see our Allergen Policy for more details.

If your camper has an allergy or medical condition we should be aware of, please ensure you include this information in your registration under medical notes.  Staff must be made aware of any medication that your camper may need to use during camp hours. Life saving medications (e.g. inhalers, epipen) must be kept on their person or in a storage location that the staff are aware of within their belongings. Any other (non-life saving) prescription medication that they will be need to take during camp hours must be entrusted to staff with instructions and consent to dispense it. Under no circumstances should campers have non-life saving medications or prescriptions in their possession.

See our full Allergen Policy for more details.

TOY POLICY

We ask that campers not bring toys from home. It’s easy for them to get misplaced and that can cause quite an upset. To avoid this, toys from home will stay in the camper’s bin or backpack. Thank you for your help with this.

LATE PICKUP FEES

Regular camp pick up takes place between 4:00 PM and 4:15 PM. Any pick-up made after this time will be subject to late pickup fees.

If a camper is registered for after care, they must be picked up by 5:00 PM. Any pick-up made after this time will be subject to late pickup fees.

Late pickup fees are $10 per child per 10-minute increment. Parents/Guardians will be required to sign a late pickup form. Available payment methods for late fees include cash, cheque, or e-transfer and are due within 48 hours.
